Butterflies
of France
In
metropolitan France including Corsica there are 253 species of
butterflies, of which 16 are threatened with extinction in
metropolitan France and 18 others are considered almost threatened,
according to the red list published by the IUCN in 2012. Of these
species, 26 are protected by law and it is therefore strictly
forbidden to capture them and / or trade in them.
